- Established a SA think-tank on brand citizenship. This group of local experts will produce a report to be launched in June 2008 on the state of brand citizenship in SA. It will also place significant emphasis on brand leaders in companies, advertising agencies and marketing constancies on how they should demonstrate responsible brand leadership in support of good corporate citizenship
- Established an initiative called: The Young Community Leadership Initiative in SA. This initiative will advance responsible community leadership (focussing on social and environmental leadership and in support of national priorities). This imitative is aimed to develop responsible leadership at a youth level and can become the GRLI “light” version.

Corporate and Academic Citizenship is now registered as a strategic project in the University and the aim is to make Unisa the most sustainable and responsible University on the African Continent. The principles of GRLI will be applied within the broader Universities’ key driving principles and objectives.
